The SMS can only be effective if there is ‘a positive safety Leadership’ which enables ‘a positive safety culture’.
The positive safety culture sets the boundaries about what is permitted & what it is not.
If production factors prevail over safety, then, SMS will never be effective & inexistence into the DNA of the organization & its suppliers.
Our daily task is to continuously check what promotes & what prevents a positive safety culture which enables that the SMS is embedded into the DNA of every single operation and where everybody is not only entitled but expected to stop operations whenever insufficient safety conditions exists.
If we really want to save 243.000 injuries and uSd 11 billions in damages (both figures annually), aerodrome operators should make sure that the safety policy prevails over the other corporate policies, everywhere and at all times.
